Trip Planning
Read Revelations 1:4-8
Grace and peace to you from the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come; from the sevenfold Spirit before his throne; 5 and from Jesus Christ. He is the faithful witness to these things, the first to rise from the dead, and the ruler of all the kings of the world.
All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us. 6 He has made us a Kingdom of priests for God his Father. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.
7 Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven.
And everyone will see him—
even those who pierced him.
And all the nations of the world
will mourn for him.
Yes! Amen!
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”
Big Idea: Prepare your temple for Christ’s return.
When we are preparing to leave for a trip, there’s one thing I always do before I go. I clean up the house. No one wants to come home to old moldy food in the fridge, wet towels that have sat on the floor, or stinky trash left in the kitchen. In my heart, I believe Jesus is coming soon! Whether today, or in the near future, throughout the world you can sense the Holy Spirit calling His church to a cleansing and holiness.
As the temple of Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), God desires to fill our whole self with His glory. Nowhere in the Bible do we read where God fills part of the tabernacle or temple. In Exodus 40:34-35, it says, “Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.” After Solomon finished praying when the first temple was dedicated, it says in 2 Chronicles 7:1-2 that, “fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. The priests could not enter the temple of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled it.”
In the same way, we cannot shut doors in our heart, giving God access to some rooms but not others. Maybe it’s a hidden closet you keep closed to Him filled with secret sins, unforgiveness for someone who hurt you in the past, or a person or thing you’ve set up as an idol in your life. Today, open wide all the doors and allow the Holy Spirit access. Even this space, God can fill, transform, and use for His glory as He molds us and changes us into usable vessels. It’s time to clean our temple and prepare for Christ’s return!
