Burdened

Read Isaiah 40:27-31

Why do you complain, Jacob?
    Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord;
    my cause is disregarded by my God”?
28 Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.

Read 1 Timothy 1:17

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Big Idea: God is able to carry my burdens.

My life. My family. My job. My stress. My decisions.

We were created for more than just pushing and pulling our responsibilities and burdens from one struggle to the next. God made us to live in fellowship and oneness with Him.

God is Eternal: This word means “of the ages, everlasting, stretching to infinity, and forever.” Because God is eternal, He sees your today, while also knowing your yesterday and your tomorrow. God is never caught by surprise or making decisions without thought. God is simultaneously working things out for your good (Romans 8:28), while also accomplishing His everlasting plan.

God is Immortal: This word means “incorruptible, not subject to decay, not perishable, and not of this world.” Because God is immortal, He does not change or wear out. He does not alter based on your performance. He is always steadfast, faithful, and good. God is the One you can build on, run to in every moment, and love through life’s changing seasons.

God is Invisible: This word means, “divine, the unseen nature of God, and eternal presence.” Because God is invisible, He is always present with you in every moment of your life. He doesn’t check out because someone else needs Him. He is fully present in every situation and close when you call on Him.

God is Only: This word means, “singular, alone, exclusive, and One.” Because God is the only God, there is nothing to compare Him. He stands alone in power, strength, and wisdom. No one or nothing is more capable. You can trust Him, seeking Him at all times for wisdom, strength, and guidance.

Due Honor and Glory: To give God all honor and glory means to “give Him all value, place full weight on, recognize His significance, value Him as precious, and recognize His splendor and divine quality.”

Our response is one of recognition and dependency. We were not called to carry our lives, families, jobs, stresses, and decisions alone. We were made to live in perfect relationship with our Creator and to acknowledge our daily need for Him. The weight and burdens of life are present to reminds us of our frailty and lack. They call us to our knees in prayer and praise, placing us in proper alignment to the One who is able.
